The National Personnel Records Center (NPRC) provides copies of documents from military personnel records to authorized requesters. Their new web-based application will provide better service on these requests by eliminating their mail room processing time.

Veterans can now obtain their DD214 Online via the National Personnel Records Center (NPRC). This may be particularly helpful when a veteran needs a copy of his DD-214 for employment purposes.

Veterans can now apply for health care online with the VA. The system allows veterans quick and secure access to apply for health care. To apply for health care, veterans can fill out and submit an Internet-based 10-10 EZ application.

Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) on June 7, 2006 introduced the Homes for Heroes Act, which would greatly expand access to long-term, affordable housing for veterans. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) estimates that one in every three homeless adult males is a veteran. Illinois is one of seven states with more than 10,000 homeless veterans.
